Soot Stuck on Wallpaper
Smoke from a fire in the basement traveled throughout this home, leaving soot on every surface area including on this ornate wallpaper. It is sometimes better to remove wallpaper than try to clean the soot off because the smoke odor may be trapped in or underneath the paper and adhesive. After removing the paper, we used an industrial solution to remove the soot from the walls and ceilings. This included changing out the outlet wall plate. Air scrubbers are placed in the room to clean the air from smoke odor. The walls were then painted white. This helps seal in any residual smoke odor.
