DIshwasher filter needs cleaning!

Are your dishes really clean?

Recently our dishwasher seemed to be ‘on vacation’ (my fun way of saying it’s not working). We noticed the dishes didn’t have the bright, sterilized look or smell after a completed cleaning cycle. We fussed around with different cleaning agents- liquid, pods, dry crystals, with little to no difference. We tried rinsing better, altering the stacking method and even spritzing a formula to start the cleaning process. Nothing changed except that we both stopped using as many dishes as possible and hand washing those we did pull out, haha! When I called my local appliance store and begged for help from Lynn, I found out the service visit was going to be upwards of $150.00! But I’m thankful I did call and inquire; I always say, You Just Gotta Ask. ??

Did you know that there is a filter that needs cleaned in your dishwasher? Located in the bottom floor of your appliance, this mesh screen covered cylinder catches all the crude and keeps the dishwasher functioning properly. How about that!

Thank you Lynn for asking when the last time was I cleaned the filter (answer: Never!) Your explanation of the ‘How To’ was so easy and it did indeed get the dishwasher back to work.
Instructions:  1. Twist gently and pull cylinder straight up. 2. Wipe off buildup with a paper towel and dispose. 3. Rinse off the mesh screen with hot water till it runs through easily. 3. Use a mild dish soap for grungy areas & to remove smells. (a soft toothbrush is helpful) 4. Wipe off the opening in the dishwasher floor of any debris and place cylinder back in.

My continued acts of trying could have produced more than dirty dishes. Plugged water lines backing up and flooding my kitchen could have been a result. If you ever have that happen, call us at SERVPRO of Decorah for cleanup services.
